Last month I had the opportunity to stop by Bayside of Granite Bay and check out their amazing summer day camp (their version of a Vacation Bible School). As usual, I was blown away by the creativity, quality, and sheer fun of the event!;
The theme was "Breakaway to the Arctic Freeze." As we walked towards the church campus, here is what we saw. Giant icebergs!

And a boat embedded in the iceberg, to boot.

I also appreciated the little pieces of humor sprinkled throughout. LIke a person stuck on top of the iceberg. Though, now that I think about it, that person sure is large in comparison to the ship!

From the top of the ice came sprays of water. It was too warm for snowflakes.

Outdoors in the fountain, a polar bear was stranded on a piece of "ice."

In the storytime area, the indoors was converted to a large ice cave.

This was done by crumpling up large sheets of blue paper and adding some spray painting for more dimension. Very cool effect!

Here's the entrance to the room… an ice tunnel.

Might as well break out the Christmas trees too. After all, they just get packed away for the summer. So clever!

In the storytime room for the older kids, I loved the cool lighting effects and dangling snowflakes.

The hallway had blue sheets of butcher paper with snowflake stencils sprayed on.

The icicle lights add a lot too!

I also appreciated the simplicity involved. Large sheets of blue and white butcher paper make a simple arctic scene.

The arts and crafts area was creative too. Kids painted with white paint on blue paper.

This activity wasn't really related to winter, but kids enjoyed rolling round spiky balls with paint down inclined tables.

Large blocks of ice were available for kids to use food coloring/colored water to melt the ice.

Pastels in water made vibrant drawings on black paper.

I also liked their signage. Gives an icy feeling.

Kids used spray water bottles to spray paper dangling on clothespins.

The recreation area was huge. Lots of inflatables!

The large group rally had the most beautiful sight upon entering. Love the lighting and set design!

Lots of rocking music and dancing! These people sure got a workout!

The lobby had a large ice centerpiece too.

Not everything was fancy though. For some reason, I really liked this sight. A large truck was used as a stanchion to block off a muddy gulch. That's a creative solution to a problem!

As always, the people of Bayside did an outstanding job with great excellence. I just looked at the faces of those kids and knew this was not an experience that they would forget — and in the process, they would learn and experience more about Jesus!
