This year, our Vacation Bible School had over 400 kids. Many of the kids requested their friends to be with them. You can imagine how complicated this can get if you are trying to make groups with lots and lots of kids and lots and lots of requests! But we found the secret: cards!

We used Google Docs spreadsheet to track our volunteer and child registrations. (The cheapest solution we could find. It's not ideal. The event is getting complicated enough that we need to use an online database of some kind, because our child registration sheet has what seems like 30 columns!)

This past week my church (University Covenant Church) transformed our campus into a Western town for our summer day camp/vacation Bible school called "Breakaway to the Great Frontier."

This summer our summer day camp/vacation Bible school had a western theme. Part of the theme was creating a mine shaft. Our amazing decorating team transformed our hallways and youth room into a rock wall cave at relatively low cost.

Our church is talking about starting a Sunday night service, so we made a large sign-up board for people to put their names up. Because we didn't want people writing their contact info and keeping it on the wall, we made removable tags.

The goal of this project was to make something large and visual so we could see progress, and do it with zero budget. We didn't even buy double-stick tape, which would have made the job a lot easier! Everything was done with supplies in the copy room.
